KAPARKAN FALLS (Spring Falls) in the Philippines

Updated: Feb 16, 2022

KAPARKAN FALLS. It is also known as “Mulawin Falls”, located at Sitio Kaparkan, Brgy. Caganayan, Tineg, Abra in the Philippines.

The best to travel going there is during the rainy season – July and August every year. Summer is a NO-NO. For those who are seeking a thrill, it’s a must-have in your Nature Adventure.

WHAT TO BRING:

Bottled water

Food (packed-lunch & snacks)

Waterproof bag for your extra shirt and pants

Camera/Phone

Powerbank

Sandal (Booties is highly recommended)

Flashlight

HOW TO GET THERE:

REGISTRATION area is inside the DPWH Compound, Bangued, Abra. You need to book before your travel date to reserve a seat. Registration Fee of P850.00 includes a back-and-forth ride and a coordinator. No private vehicle is allowed to go to the falls except for the Monster Truck and Monster Jeep awaiting after your registration.

It would take up to a 1.5hours monster truck ride going to the Alimusgan Junction and 45minutes of Chain-wrapping tires.

Photo Ops during the Chain-wrapping of tires.
Another photo opportunity with my mates!

Tip: Get the first trip so you could get off the place before it gets dark. It’s like…First In, First Out.

Another 2 hours of a trail going to the Kaparkan drop-off area. It is not an easy ride. There is a high risk of getting to this majestic place, the reason why only monster “military” trucks and monster jeeps are allowed transportation in the area. Warning!!! Bumpy ride ahead, not the usual ride you are thinking of. Chances are…you gonna need to walk up the bumpy and muddy road. It will eat up all your energy...

The trail starts here!!!

(We were lucky. We get the first trip. Walang aberya papunta, except that they need to jump off the truck “kasama ako sa mga hindi bumaba hahaha!” kasi masyadong malalim yung putik sa daan). However, on our way back, we needed to jump off the truck several times. “Patience is a virtue”.

From the Kaparkan Drop-Off area, 30 minutes trek going to this magnificent nature-created Spring Falls. We arrived past 10 in the morning. Had our breakfast-lunch before we indulged ourselves in the beauty of the place. The spring terraces are about 1 km long from the top up to the Blue Lagoon. Don’t miss seeing the Blue Lagoon. It is the best place to jump off. It would take 30 minutes trek goin’ down there.

If you get this far, thank you. See you in my other blogs.
